Types of Parrots That You Should Own As Pets

Do you love parrots and want to have one as a pet? Then this article is for you. There are so many types of parrots available in the market that you can bring your home as a pet, but it is important for you to choose the one that matches your style. Yes, I used the phrase that matches your style because not all parrots can be a great pet. Your interested bird depends on your home and lifestyle. There are some parrots that can fit in the pockets directly and there are some which weigh more than 2 kilograms. So it depends upon you and your requirement. Here we have put together some of the best parrot types that make the perfect pet.

Budgerigars Parrots

Budgerigars are small parrots, and they don’t require a lot of maintenance. If you own a parrot for the first time in your life, then there is no better option than the Budgerigars. Parrots require freedom, you cannot keep it in the cage all the time and hence if you don’t have time to spend with these parrots, then it is better for you to stay away from them. Budgerigars are low maintenance and low-cost species; you can get them home as your first parrot pet.

One tip that I have to share here is when you are out for a Budgerigar to make sure to know how it bred. Because the Budgerigar bred between close relatives will have a relatively shorter life span.

Cockatiels

Along with the Budgerigars, these are the easy and cost-effective birds that you can obtain in the market. They are very cute and can be tamed easily. These cockatiels prefer whistling and singing over talking, but repeated training will help them to sing.

African Grey Parrots

Similar to the other parrots present outside, these parrots also need some freedom. You cannot keep them in the cage for a long time. They at least need three or four hours of outside cage time for sure. These grey birds are a little bit large when compared to the cockatiels or budgerigars, but they are cute. They exhibit so many properties, and one will surely fall in love with them.

Cockatoos

If you are a beginner, then stay away from this pet. They are high maintenance, and as a beginner, you will be pretty intimidated about maintaining the pet. They are captivating creatures, but sadly in the US, only white-colored cockatoos are available. These birds are more demanding; they ask for more and more time than what a person can spare for them. They have a sweet voice, but they scream a lot and talk very less. The screams of this bird are deafening.

Conures

The conures are acquiring a lot of popularity because most of the people are living in apartments with very little space. The sun conures are very pretty, and you can have it in an apartment. These conures are less noisy, and they don’t disturb the lifestyle at all yet they are too cute and bring happiness into the house they are in.
